How To Prepare Yourself For Gym Exercises
Some people don’t give gym exercise preparation a lot of thought, but it would be really beneficial for them if they did. Spending half an hour or so in the gym could put a lot of stress on one’s muscles, and one could end up phoning in their injuries to a clinic or spa if their sessions go wrong.
Eating a carbohydrate-rich diet before a session at the gym is ideal for preventing muscle soreness. That’s because the body runs on starch and sugar deposits for energy. When you run out of these deposits, the body will dip into one’s potassium levels for energy. Muscles turn sore when that potassium storage is depleted.
Some Gym Exercises You Can Do Without Using Fitness Equipment
One of the most common exercises done at the gym without having to use the machines are lunges and bench dips. These are easy ways to tone the two problematic areas for women: the thighs and triceps (back of the arms).
To do a basic lunge, take a big step forward, keeping the knee at a ninety-degree angle. Slowly lower your body while keeping the back straight. Perform the lunge with the other leg and do a couple of reps. To do triceps dips, find a chair that can support your weight. Try to sit on the floor with your back against the edge of the chair. Extend your arms backward and place your palms down on the edge of the chair, with knuckles to your back. Lift your body up until you’ve extended your arms at full length and with your knees at a ninety-degree angle, then lower your body again.
Cooling Down After Doing Some Gym Exercises
There are many ways of cooling down after a gym exercise. One of these is by slowing down your movements until in a stationary position. Another way is by stretching. Doing some cool-down exercises or some light dancing will slowly bring your heart rate back down and your energy levels. As for post-exercise recovery, a person is advised to eat a protein-rich meal. That’s because protein aids the body’s cell recovery. People are also advised to take a cold shower after an exercise. Showering in hot water may feel soothing for some, but it actually worsens muscle soreness.
