Well, here are 10 questions to ask yourself when choosing a gym in Singapore:
1. Firstly, what is my goal?
This is the first and most important thing you need to define as this will influence the types of gyms you should be looking at.
Maybe you’re looking to keep fit and youlike the idea of a short and effective work out.Then you should consider a gym in Singapore that specialises in circuit trainings.
Or maybe you’re looking to recover from an injury? Then a rehab program is what you need.
If you’re clear about your goal, you will then be able to narrow your options more extensively.
Ultimately, this will help you align your goal to a gym that is equipped with the relevant expertise to guide you to achieve it.
2. What are the gyms within my convenience?
It takes most of us quite a bit of motivation to get ourselves to the gym on a regular basis.
As such, signing up to a gym that is slightly out of the way even though it may be cheaper is not the wisest thing to do.
Do we really want to make ourselves less motivated to achieve our fitness goal? Of course not!

4. What type of environment am I looking for?
Each gym hasits own unique atmosphere.
Thus, it is important that you do not feelintimidated in the environment of whichever gym you end up choosing.
Let’s say you’rea female gym goer andyou feel more comfortable working around women just like you.
In that case when you are making your shortlist, include women-only gyms or fitness centres in Singapore.
Check out the websites or social media channels of the gyms you’re considering or if you really have to, head down in person to have a feel of the place for yourself.
5. What types of equipment will I use?
You’ll want to choose a gym that offers a wide selection of equipment that you’re likely to use.
Reason being, you’ll tend to stick to the ones you enjoy using.

8. Are the locker room/shower facilities important to me?
If you’re going to be working out before your work or during your lunch break, then consider the facilities that you would need to groom yourself up before heading to the office.
Do you need hair dryers? Do you need mirrors?
Find out if the gym has those facilities in place for your needs.
9. Can I get a trial session?
What better way to know if a gym is ideal for you than to try it out for yourself.
If by now you’re already deciding between a few gyms, find out if they do offer any form of trials and sign up for them before you commit to anyone.
These can either be a session that is offered for free or a special package with a discounted rate.
Take full advantage of these trials to use the gym as how you’ll likely to do so.
And at the end of it, ask yourself which gym feels like the best fit for you.
10. Contract or no contract?
Many of the gyms offer discounted deals which require you to commit to a year-long contract or longer.
Although they are cheaper, are you comfortable with putting pen to paper and sticking with your decision?
If the answer is “no”, then opt for a monthly membership without any contractual commitments to allow you some flexibility.
This provides you with some leeway should you decide that it’s not a good fit for you down the road.
